In my home world, as I cannot speak for others, the Grim Reaper is not the skeletal, hooded entity wielding a scythe. Instead the Reapers are plural, an organization made up of the deceased. They simply exist to administer the Game.

I only say this with certainty because I have experienced it myself.

As for Soul ... well, perhaps I was just being figurative.
