In Which Boredom Reigns Supreme

You know, I tried watching the television today, only to remember just how bad it sucked. Seriously, there's nothing but happy crap on and, I'll tell you, not too interested in that. I'd have gone to the library, but I pretty much read most of the stuff they have in the kids section and there's pretty much little to nothing in any of the other sections friggin' worth anything.

So I was thinking: a lot of you people probably came from some interesting places, or did some interesting things, or know some interesting people, or yada-yada-yada. Basically, I'll cut to the chase: tell me about the places your from or the people you know, cause I'm bored as can be and I'll pretty much take anything as a way to entertain myself. You want a story in return? Fine, I can do that; there's a lot of crazy junk I've seen.

But c'mon. Entertain me. I'm bored here.

Hey, you're the crazy doctor or nurse or whatever I talked to a bit on the phone during the Soviet schtick, right?

There's something I want to ask you.

Mmm, I'm from a place called Tokyo. Actually a lot of us are.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard of Tokyo. It exists in a lot of dimensions, but sometimes there are weird things going on anyway, or changes.

But then, no place is "normal".

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Normal is what you're used to I guess. Mine was pretty normal, no big ass robots or Godzilla or nothin'.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. I guess. I mean, my world would probably be pretty weird to some people.

So what'd you do there? Like, job or for fun or anything?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I was a florist, and for fun I'd go play soccer with the neighbourhood kids.

Why, what was your world like?

.....

Really? You worked with flowers?

[A grown man working with flowers? Yeah, you better believe he finds that shit funny.]

Eh. It was a lot like America here but...more modern. But there were weirder things too, like the Photographer who follows you around everywhere and shows up when it's least convenient, or the Mr. Saturns. Or Dungeon Man. Guy turned himself into a dungeon.

It was a good job! And it made decent money and had flexible hours!

Besides, flowers are kinda cool once you know more about them.

Dude...your world sounds like a video game.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
How can flowers be cool?

...Huh. Now that I think about it, I guess it kinda was.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, for one thing, different flowers have different meanings, and you can spell out a whole different message with each arrangement.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah? What are some examples?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the most common example is the humble rose. It doesn't mean anything on its own, for it, the colour is what's important.

You know, red is for hot passionate love, and pink is friendship and all that jazz. Teenagers and housewives eat that stuff up.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
So is the message really there, or is it just some kind of ploy meant to trick suckers into buying specific flowers?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, 'parently the practice is from Victorian England or something like that. My boss made me learn the more common ones. I kinda just went from there.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, not faulting you for it.

Good marketing is good marketing.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
I guess so. But man, some of the messages those school girls wanted to send. Made for some awkward as well arrangements. I usually made Aya do'em. He was the best at those.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
Girls are weird a lot of the time.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
Tell me about it. Sheesh. [He likes girls, they just confuse him sometimes]

I liked playing soccer more then workin' though.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
Because playing soccer is fun! Working isn't.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
You can make your work fun, if it's something you actually want to do.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I didn't really mind doing the arrangements, and I liked doing deliveries cause it meant I got to go outside and not be stuck in the shop for hours on end.

Mostly though I had to do all the heavy lifting. Like moving the big bags of dirt around and stuff.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I would guess that'd suck.

Mainly the job I had was an office job.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
You're kinda young for a job like that.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Alright, if you say so. Office jobs sound really boring though. Yuck, paperwork.
