ceasetoexist: (Bored)

In Which Boredom Reigns Supreme

You know, I tried watching the television today, only to remember just how bad it sucked. Seriously, there's nothing but happy crap on and, I'll tell you, not too interested in that. I'd have gone to the library, but I pretty much read most of the stuff they have in the kids section and there's pretty much little to nothing in any of the other sections friggin' worth anything.

So I was thinking: a lot of you people probably came from some interesting places, or did some interesting things, or know some interesting people, or yada-yada-yada. Basically, I'll cut to the chase: tell me about the places your from or the people you know, cause I'm bored as can be and I'll pretty much take anything as a way to entertain myself. You want a story in return? Fine, I can do that; there's a lot of crazy junk I've seen.

But c'mon. Entertain me. I'm bored here.

Hey, you're the crazy doctor or nurse or whatever I talked to a bit on the phone during the Soviet schtick, right?

There's something I want to ask you.

No, it's just that deep down all anyone really cares about is looking for themselves. Thing is, we're also social animals. So we try and find ways to justify being with others.

Thing is, it turns out the more people you have around you, the more you have to manipulate. And if you're not the one manipulating, then that means you're the one being manipulated.

It doesn't have to work like that! Man, you must have had something awful happen to you to be that jaded.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 06:59 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't really matter.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
It does matter. Everyone has a right to happiness...the problem is when that right to happiness conflicts with someone else's. There has to be some sorta compromise in there somewhere.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
That foolish.

You can't make everyone happy all the time. There's always going to be someone displeased with someone else's happiness.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
I know that. I know that this isn't a perfect world and there's gonna be unhappiness...

Just gotta do your best.

Even then, life is going to find a way to kick you down.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
It doesn't have to. Don't be such a self fulfilling prophesy.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:06 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not.

I'm working at wrestling to stay on top.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:08 am (UTC)(link)
The top is a lonely place. And then birds shit on you.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
They shit on you when you're on the bottom, too.

Just takes a little longer.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:10 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think I'd want to be on the top of anything. I like where I am, smack dab in the middle. [Anywhere but the outside.]

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
It's a comfortable place to be.

But you've gotta still be afraid of the predators there. Not much to be afraid of when you're the head omnivore.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:13 am (UTC)(link)
I'm small fry, and small fry come after me. At the top, you get all the big boys coming after you. [Funny thing, Ken is the predator, taking out corruption where the police can't go.]

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
That's why you just need to make sure you're the biggest there is.

And if there is bigger, find where to hide so they don't notice you.

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
You shouldn't have to be come what hunts you to be safe Pokey.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:18 am (UTC)(link)
And yet that's pretty much the way it does work, isn't it?

[identity profile] weiss-tank.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:21 am (UTC)(link)
Not always. And it shouldn't work like that. Going that route just makes more hunters, more things that hurt others. It's a big giant cycle that people are too frightened to break out of.

[Ken isn't the brightest in his friends group, but he probably understands people better then most.]

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2010-07-15 07:24 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe.

But it's what I have.

[And he's just going to hang up now. This conversation is making him feel funny and guilty, and he doesn't want to have it anymore.]
