ceasetoexist: (and I'm not scared now)

58 - Phone

I lived through it. All of it.

I guess when I first got here I would have said that to brag, but now I guess I want to say....I dunno. That if that's their worst? It can still be beaten.

God. I don't know. I suck at being all "blah blah hope blah blah it'll be fine" since it's usually bullcrap. But I guess I'm just saying. What happened sucked, but it's not like...the most hopeless thing ever.

They're scared. That's what I think. It's why they went this far. I dunno if we're on to something but we must have done something right to make them do something that drastic.

Because you know what I think? They're demanding we be thankful? They need us to. I don't know why yet, but it's necessary for whatever system they've got going on. Think about it. The demand for conformity, the droning to what's desired if we don't. They need us to be here and act a specific way, because if we don't....well, I dunno. I think that it's that if we exist here for long enough, not doing what they want? We compromise their system. They need us to behave a certain way or something doesn't stick, or the stability of this place'll start going off, or something.

That's what I think.

Hey. Idiots. And I'm pretty sure you know which ones I'm talking to? Not that I care or anything, but call me if you can, y'know, manage to use the phone.

[Pokey can't tell the difference. Not yet. He's better at empathy then he had been, but that isn't saying much.]

Yeah, it is, in a sick, stupid way.

You get through it?

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't talking about the town.

[a soft expel of air - mhm.] I think. I was in that diner all day. I remember my nose bleeding, but not much else.

[and feeling sick. but he's not going to tell Pokey that. he's pretty sure that the town reverted itself back to normal before his body wore out.]

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:16 am (UTC)(link)
So what's funny then?

[Because even if, for once, he thinks there's a chance the people here can ultimately win against the town? Still not in the best of moods.]

Good. Cool. You made it. I thought you were going to gawk at me the whole time.

[A snicker.]

But thinking back on it? You should've seen the look on your face.

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
You said you weren't good at talking about having hope, but that's what you more or less ended up saying. Just with a lot of words.

[tunelessly:] Was it funny?

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:29 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's kinda my first time. I dunno. Not like I still fully get it all that much.

I thought it was, yeah.

I mean. After I was done getting chased by the cannibals.

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
Guess that makes two of us.

I've never seen someone run like that before. It was a little amazing. [but just a little.]

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Really? I dunno. All the other kids that have your Pokemon or whatever have been some of the loudest about hope and that crap. Not saying that's bad, just kinda surprised.

To be fair?

I didn't know I could run like that.

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:50 am (UTC)(link)
Everyone should find something to believe in. Hope is something you have to make for yourself, not preach and expect that's enough to make people feel better. [yikes, too many words. he goes quiet.] ...It's what I think anyway.

Maybe they just wore themselves out. They looked like they were falling apart.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
...Makes sense to me.

[It does, in it's own way. He's still pretty new to hope in general. But he thinks he gets it.]

Maybe. I dunno. Some of those things....they were pretty athletic. I dunno.

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 09:03 am (UTC)(link)
I thought so. At least you know how to get results. [because, whether Red wants to admit it aloud or not, Pokey's selflessness back there gave him more hope than any little peptalk would have. those are the kinds of actions Red wants to rely upon to get a point across. words have so little meaning compared to actual physical force.]

Have you ever seen anything like them before?

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-11-29 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I know how things work, alright? Getting results is one of my best skills. [Not really, this time just happened to pan out really well. But he's proud of it. He actually succeeded at something for once.]

...Not exactly like them. I mean, the town has thrown things at us that'll attack and kill us before. They're kind of like weaker versions of the hazmats, I guess.

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 06:49 am (UTC)(link)
It's a good one to have. [his tone becomes a little more loose and light. still too far away from smiling, but it's a start.]

Is it a good thing I don't know who you're talking about?

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 07:17 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It is.

Hopefully we won't see them again, but with our luck....

[identity profile] hispalette.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
I've never seen them before. I'm probably not missing out on much if they're anything like those raiders.

What I wanna know is what they have to do with Lucy. She had to have gotten the idea to make 'em from somewhere.

[identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com 2011-12-01 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...I can't say on that. I guess because hazmats are usually suits people use when they have to go in and contain hazardous materials or sickness.

I have no clue if that's commentary on us, or what.

If you mean the cannibals? Dunno. Maybe they really are out there. Or she's just screwing with us. She isn't exactly the most stable person.
