Run Away

[Too soon. Way, way too soon. This practically wasn’t even fair, but then again, he knew better then to ever really expect things to be “fair”. Especially in regards to him. But first Blue Engie was gone. And Pokey guessed he should’ve know that was inevitable. It’d happened once before, for god’s sake, even if it technically wasn’t his fault. Which didn’t mean Pokey still didn’t blame him for leaving. Hell, Pokey just about blamed everyone for anything when something bad happened. But he couldn’t really hate him for it.

And he really should’ve seen Tak getting taken away coming too. He really, really should’ve. Of course. Once he met someone he could actually talk with, or relate to to a point where he honestly considered them his friend, a real friend or at least what passed as one to Pokey, it just made sense they’d be taken away. It’ happened to most of the people Pokey had bothered to become closer to, so why not the one he got along with the best to? That just made sense. Once Pokey met someone he actually really liked, just yank them away.

And he was pissed. At Tak for leaving. At the town for forcing that to happen. But especially at himself for bothering to get attached to anyone. He’d known that crap was pointless for a long, long time. So he shouldn’t be surprised or bothered.

But he was. And he didn’t really know to react. Losing Engie was bad but this was worse somehow. It just…he’d thought he’d found someone he could fully relate to. And now it was gone. And his usual reliance on anger as a coping mechanism was displaced. He just felt empty and alone again, and that he needed to find some way to get rid of that feeling.]

[Welp, Pokey’s on a bitch-fit now that Tak is gone. And there’s plenty of ways to end up encountering/running into him as he acts on that little fit.]

Phone-Filtered to the KND

Numbah M9 has been perma-droned. Just letting you dweebs know.

Option A. Tearing ass in his not!parent’s car

[Well, the family car for 502 Ricardo Street is going to be missing, thanks to the fact that Pokey’s swiped the keys and is proceeding to tear ass through the streets as much as he can in it. He seems to be giving Josephine a break, possibly because The Captain damaged her last time and he’d rather not get her hurt again he still needs to repair that. But nope.

Feel free to notice the kid tearing across the streets in a car. To be fair, he’s doing a decent job actually driving. And if he even notices someone he recognizes? He’ll just pull up beside them and smile maniacally. He sure doesn’t look like he’s in as bad a mood as he really is. In fact, he almost looks happy or pleased.]

Option B. Cars Can Also Be Weapons

[Yeah, he may not look angry, but he’s not showing that with the way he’s driving at times. Remember how he was trying to kick down mailboxes when last week when Engie got droned? Fuck that shit. He’s mowing those motherfuckers down in a row now, as long as there isn’t danger of hitting another car.

Or sometimes if there is, he doesn’t care. He’ll just ram that shit, because all of this gets repaired tomorrow morning, so who even really cares. Hell, he might just be driving in a circle on your lawn at some point too, because really, he’s always wanted to do that, and there’s no time better then the present, especially when he could be droned permanently.

Either way? Family car is coming back home fucked tonight, if it even comes back home at all.]

Option C. Still Not Satisfied with Damage

[For whatever reason, quite possibly because the car isn’t operational any longer, Pokey has taken back to foot to try and do damage. Specifically, he’s keeping things simple: he’s got a bag full of rocks, and he isn’t afraid to use them. Right now, he’s settling on throwing them at houses and cars, which isn’t a great idea since the cars occasionally deflect the rocks right back at him, striking him in his stupid face.

At least he isn’t throwing the rocks at people.

Yet.]

Option D. And Now To Be A Crybaby

[His rage isn’t spent, not yet really, but he’s at least semi-satisfied with the mayhem he’s managed to cause today. Thing is? Now something’s sinking in that Pokey isn’t particularly used to feeling. At least, not this badly. And he doesn’t know if he’s supposed to classify it as being sad, or simply another way of being angry, or what. But it’s more unbearable then the regular anger. And this type, he doesn’t know how to deal with. At all.

For now, Pokey’ll just be stalking the streets, and there’s absolutely none of the usual pompous, self-important attitude he usually puts in his appearance. His shoulders are slumped and head bowed in defeat as he stalks along. Occasionally, he stops at certain buildings, like the library, though at other times the spots he stops at seem completely random. And he just stares. And occasionally, it might look like there’s something in his eye but he makes sure that shit isn’t happening pretty quickly before moving on.

The spots he’s looking at might not have any real importance in general. But they seem to have some type for him. Feel free to bother him as he goes about this.]

[He heard those tires squealing three blocks away and he doesn't look perturbed when the car pulls up alongside him on the street. He's a little surprised to see you in the driver's seat, Pokey, but only because you're usually piloting a different kind of machine.

Slugger looks at the car and then back at the grinning face of its driver and lifts his chin like 'What's up?']

[Pokey just nods a little. Fuck the fact that he hates you a lot of the time. Fuck the fact that you're really probably the last person he wants to talk to right now. He just wants to show off some.]

Pretty sweet, huh?

[It isn't Josephine, but hey, it is a car. Car's are cool, right?]

From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[Cool enough. Guess who's climbing into the seat behind you, invited or not. By the way, he heard your filtered phone message earlier but it hasn't really registered yet.]

Where's Josephine?

Back home.

[His voice is almost light and airy as he readjusts himself so he can, you know, actually somewhat see out the front window while still hitting the gas. It's going to start back up slow, but uh...he's going to be pretty much pumping on the gas soon.]

[This gives him plenty of time to migrate to the front passenger's seat. From the way you're straining to see over the dash, he can tell you need a booster seat or a couch cushion or something (admittedly, he would need one, too). As the car lurches forward, he just relaxes into the seat, baseball bat resting in the space beside his legs.]

You're trying to get droned?

[Laughter. Just little, barking laughter.]

What? No. That's stupid. Don't be stupid.

[See that stop sign? FUCK THAT STOP SIGN. Pokey is just running that shit over.]

From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[Clearly, this is awesome. He can hear that stop sign scraping around on the ground for half a block before it stops and becomes visible in the street through the back window as it's left behind. Slugger turns and settles back into his seat again.

Anyway. He shrugs.] If you say so. Your drone is fun to hit.

I bet.

So was yours. Interesting to dissect to.

[Sideswipping that parked car. On your side, of course.]

[Ffff, you asshole. Guess who's... fastening his seatbelt now.]

Too bad she never found anything.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Oh, he's just smiling wider at that. And he's still pretty steadily accelerating after that.]

Yeah, it's a shame. Guess it doesn't really matter though, you know? Not really. It couldn't be too important if we didn't find anything. Tried a regular drone and you. Pretty much exhausted that angle.

[He kind of wishes you had found something...]

So. Which one of you did the killing? [Just curious. His memory of that whole episode is pretty fuzzy as you can imagine.]

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
I hit most the initial blows. But she was the one who delivered the killing blow.

[...Is that honestly fondness when he's talking about it? Sure sounds like it.]

From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[Slugger is fond of how difficult he was to kill. See? Beating people to death takes some muscle.

And now he's taken to messing with the car radio and is flipping through the FM stations, hoping against hope that he'll find something that doesn't outright suck. This inevitably means he'll be spinning the dial forever... Wait. What was that? Back-tracking a little. 'Poising pigeons in the park'? Alright, he can live with this.]

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[He'll just drive in silence for a moment before finally speaking again, his voice a bit lower.]

So when are you going to gloat?

Date: 2011-02-14 09:57 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[...Is this a trick question? He peers sidelong at Pokey.] About what?

Date: 2011-02-14 10:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Yeah, going to sideswipe another car on your side Slugger. Going faster now too.]

You know about what. Don't play stupid.

Date: 2011-02-14 11:10 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[With a start, he leans toward the middle of the car and eyes the steering wheel as if he plans to grab it and sideswipe your ass. But for the moment, he's going to bunch his eyebrows together in slightly murderous confusion and stare at you.]

...

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Pokey gives a small snarl. It's not particularly vicious or threatening, but it's pretty clear hostile intent is there.]

You heard the call I made today. Don't play dumb and act like you didn't.

[Oh. That. Slugger rests back in his seat, understanding now but not saying anything. He simply stares ahead through the windshield. He honestly doesn't know what to think about it, let alone what to say.]

How do you know it's permanent?

Date: 2011-02-15 05:04 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
All her stuff is gone. That's how you know when it's permanent.

Date: 2011-02-15 04:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[He was never an ally of Kat or particularly fond of her, but he's a bit stilted by her supposed permanent droning regardless.]

It could be an act. She could've hid her own stuff.

[Kat is tricky like that as he recalls; he wouldn't put it completely past her. Slugger decides he'll check her out later, bother her drone and see what happens.]

Date: 2011-02-15 05:06 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
No. She wouldn't lie to me about this, and if she was pulling something like this, she would've let me known.

[He sounds pretty confident about that.]

Date: 2011-02-16 10:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[Alright, so he has reason to believe this is true, considering how close you and Kat were. Either way, he's checking her out later anyway. If she's faking something, he can probably piss her off a lot faster than you can. Slugger leans forward and starts messing with the car radio again, his thoughts elsewhere.]

...

How many has it been? Two? Three? [He isn't asking this to be a jerk.]

Date: 2011-02-16 11:12 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
....About nine or ten. Over seven-eight months I've been here. About four in the last month, though.

Date: 2011-02-17 12:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] strike-you-out.livejournal.com
[Slugger stops to look over. That many? He's always thought you were smart, Pokey, at least smart enough to know better than to get too attached to anyone in Mayfield. But after so many times you still continue to relive the same pain. Now how to ask this without you sideswiping his side of the car again.]

Why do you still bother... getting close to people?
