[Well. Someone's pissy and annoyed after last night's dream. And because of that? Pokey is loud as hell as he gets up and storms off to the kitchen, somehow making a mess as he prepares a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Just fuming.]

[Phone]

Oh wow you morons put two and two together. Guess what? The town is probably brainwashing you idiots into thinking people aren't here. Whatever we were promised, we didn't get zip. I can't speak for anyone else but, uh, I'm legit. So stop running around like morons acting like anyone here is a clone or something.

[Action, Around Town]

[Pokey is busing running around like a moron, trying to search out the people he knows and see who was or wasn't replaced. So far? He isn't happy about the results, and he's busy hustling through the streets pushing over anyone in his way to see who's still here.

Picky? Slugger? Yeah, he'll also be heading for both your houses soon.]

[OOC: Pokey's been erased, so he'll seem like one of those doppelgangers yep.]

[He pauses for a moment. That was odd. She'd usually respond a lot quicker. She needed to think out "do tell"? Okay. Whatever.]

So I dreamed this kid I knew told me I had to sacrifice myself, or everything was going to be destroyed. It was like, the cheesiest, stupidest attempt to get someone to fall for self-sacrifice ever.

[And he fell for it. Hook, line, and sinker.]

[Strange. She had the same dream too. Unlike Pokey, however, she refused the offer. ... Shyna would never force her to make the decision to sacrifice herself. It was Shyna's task to clean up after her sister's mistake and she happily obliged to do so. There was no way she would ask Clod to make the same sacrifice.

Besides, she had already been cast into non-existence. She doesn't exist in her world. That dream was clearly a trap set by the town. But it seems as if this "fake" admits that he had the same dream too.

What's going on here?

She takes a few moments to control her emotions. ... Why did she need to control them anyway for that matter? Seeing drones of people she knew or even the world thrown into devastation didn't evoke the same, hateful feelings.]

... And? Did you fall for it?

[A pause. And Pokey just gets a spoonful of cereal and chews for a bit.]

Don't be stupid. Course I didn't.

[Clod didn't. And neither did Pokey. But in Pokey's eyes, there's nothing about Clod that changed... was there? It's true that Clod can't see this Pokey as the one that she's so familiar with. Each time she looks at him, she feels that something is clearly off. There's no reason to believe aside from emotions and what the man on the television had said that this Pokey is any different from the one that she knows.

She knows this. But the urge to hate this "fake" is strong. She hates him, but at the same time, she also hates the town for trying to manipulate her again.]

... What do you feel when you see me?

[Pokey stops at that, almost gags at the cereal and milk he has in his mouth, and just turns to Clod, staring. Before snickering and shaking his head.]

What?

What are you going on about? Seriously.

It's a serious question. Answer it.

[Her tone turns a slightly colder, but she tries to keep her emotions in check. She's just as inclined to be brutally honest about how she feels about him at this very moment. What she feels for him is total contempt. She hates him as much as she could ever hate a tool used by the town to get under her skin.

But that just might be giving the town its expected reaction. Her hate for the town trumps her hate for this "fake" and so, she'll bear through it until she receives her answers.]

Oh, okay then I think you're the weird green skinned girl who lives in this stupid house with me and makes oodles of dumb crap!

[He throws the cereal spoon down onto the table, glowering. WHat the hell was this supposed to be? He had thought that they had actually gotten somewhere, could've even been considered friends, and now this-this weird third degree? Where'd she get off?

And it's not like it hurt, to hear that sense of mistrust. He wouldn't be hurt by that. By something so stupid. Not at all.]

You got something to say, Clod?

[Clod's arm twitched. In that very instance, her more rational side was suppressing her instinct to tear apart Pokey with what little powers she had left. The nerve of this "fake" to yell at her like that... it infuriated Clod. But she kept still. Pokey gave her the answer she wanted.

She started laughing. No, she started roaring. It was a laugh with sheer amusement mixed in with anger.]

Oh. I do. I want to tell you how I feel now. When I look at you, my blood boils. I'd like to take my thumb and smear your lowly existence all over the world. Your face and attitude might resemble that of Pokey Minch, but all I see is a fake. A phony. A doppelganger that this town so lovingly provided as a replacement.

[She closes her eyes now and says...]

... But you recognized me as none other than myself. Not a fake. When you first saw me, you didn't hate me as I hated you.

Pokey. When your friend asked you to sacrifice yourself, what was your real answer?

[He just stares at her for a moment, dumbfounded. Replacement? He isn't a replacement. He's him. He's who he's always been. ...He has to be. He just narrows his eyes at Clod.]

Yeah? I'm getting there.

[He isn't, really. He's hurt, but he won't say it.]

....I told you my answer.

From: [identity profile] birthclod.livejournal.com
Oh.

[Pressing him may not get him to admit it either. For a fake, they certainly took care in making him as stubborn as possible. ... If he was a fake, that is.]

I also had the same dream you did. And just like you, I refused. Those that refuse exist. Those that didn't vanish.

Odd that we would both have the same dream, don't you think?

Yeah. It must be a friggin' Christmas miracle.

[Bitter. He just about spits the words out.]

.....Fine.

Yes. I said yes. Are you happy now?

Date: 2011-12-17 08:02 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] birthclod.livejournal.com
This isn't a miracle. It's another one of the town's tricks. If I didn't learn how to be more careful, I might have made a horrible mistake!

Despite how I feel... or rather, how Mayfield is making me feel... you're the real Pokey. Yes. I'm very happy.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
Yeah, I know, I was being sarcastic.

Oh man it is the real me. Let's all jump for joy! Woo-hoo!

[He picks the spoon up and waves it in the air a bit, like a child would wave a party favor, before flinging the spoon across the room in irritation.]

From: [identity profile] birthclod.livejournal.com
[Why do you move? Why do you talk? Clod clenches her fists, trying hard to placate her irritability. She sees the truth, but that doesn't mean that deep inside her, she still doesn't believe that he's fake. It's uncertain when they would finally stop.]

I wonder just how many other people will feel the same when they see you. It won't be just me.

Date: 2011-12-17 08:14 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Those are questions people have pondered when talking to Pokey even when they didn't think he was a horrible doppelganger. Pokey just harumphs a little, resting his head on his arm, propped up on the table.]

You mean the hate? Oh. I'd wager quite a few.

From: [identity profile] birthclod.livejournal.com
Your real friends will figure it out regardless of Mayfield's tricks. At the same time, just make sure you give people the benefit of the doubt, okay?

I honestly don't think anyone has been replaced anymore. Besides, droning has been a tried and true method of replacement. Seems off for them to suddenly adopt a new system.

Date: 2011-12-17 04:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Pokey shrugs. He won't answer that, not in words. His real friends. That's a concept so foreign and so weird to him that he doesn't know what to say to it.]

...We can't know for sure. It's possible some of us really are fake, and others aren't.

Date: 2011-12-17 07:52 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] birthclod.livejournal.com
It's possible, yes. But won't you regret it if you were wrong?

[Clod stands up from her chair. Fortunately, she still retained her Normal body and powers although her precious medium has disappeared. But this is enough...]

Just the same, I'm sure many other people would regret it once they find out that they were wrong too.

Date: 2011-12-17 10:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Pokey just shrugs again at that statement. Yeah. He would regret it. But he isn't saying that when other people can hear him.]

Yeah. Them getting us pissed at each other is a pretty common theme for them.
