Questions (Phone)
Nov. 18th, 2010 12:10 pm[At first, there's just silence over the phone, like someone knocked it over and forgot to put the receiver back up. Finally, after a few moments of this and of fake starts, Pokey finally speaks.]
So, with all the stupid age crap going on, I got a question for you people.
If you could stay one age, forever, would you? Or would you choose to keep aging?
Because, I mean, why wouldn't you want to stay the same age, right? I mean, it's pretty much immortality, and you wouldn't really miss out on anything by not getting older or anything. Really, you'd be doing better then them, right? So yeah.
Sorry, stupid question. Because it's not like anyone WOULDN'T take immortality when given the option. Because everyone would choose immortality.
Right?

Date: 2010-11-18 06:30 pm (UTC)Immortality isn't meant for humans. For other beings that aren't human, I couldn't say, I am not one of them, and so that doesn't concern me.
Humans are not meant to live forever, are not meant to go on into eternity. It drives one slowly insane, and I say that from the personal experience of having met Her Majesty Queen Victoria as she approaches two hundred.
I want to live my life, short and sweet as it is, and die honestly at the appointed hour whatever it may be. My immortality will come in leaving a mark on the history books so vibrant that it will never be forgotten. I don't need to extend my life to see it come to fruition, but rather I resolve to do my best with the time I have.

You people keep talking about making a mark, but not about seeing the mark you made yourself. So it's a pointless mark.

If you could keep all your friends with you and keep your home you loved the way it was for all time, that would be one thing I suppose, but the world is inherently prone to change, I'm afraid.
It's only human to strive for the power of God.
But humans were never meant to achieve it.

And I disagree. It's our right to get whatever we want if we have the power to.
