[There's some fumbling and then childish grumbling as the phone receiver is picked up and then promptly dropped. It's a moment before the phone is picked up.]

Filtered from the Drones/O'Grady/ect.

Okay, so two questions. Do, uh, freaky friggin' accidents happen around that family all the time?

And, uh...if one of those accidents did happen to you, does anyone know if there's anyway to....uh...I guess let's say something got...cut off? Anyway to get that back, cause I'd kind of like to be able to hold things in my right hand again!

So yeah, I've heard there are "magic users" who could heal junk like this. Are there anyone who can, and how much would it cost?

[Filtered to Mindy]

Hey squirt, you ended up getting separated from me at the party.

[A small pause.]

You okay?

The freakshow with the bat. He ever show up at your house or anything?

[Harumph. Lucas doesn't quite pick up on it, the eye slits being as narrow as they are. He follows Porky towards where he kept his fingers.]

Anyway, the reason is that they get frostbitten, just like your fingers would if you stuck them in the freezer while they were still attached.

Um. Just in case you lose any fingers again.

So what? I just put them in the fridge, then, or where?

[And he'll be laying the fingers down on the table before beginning to take the bandages off of his right hand.]

You do the same thing like you would if you were using ice on a swelling. Wrap it up a lot first.

[Lucas examines the fingers as best he can through the slits. Well. Porky had put them in the freezer for a lot longer than he should have. He was pretty sure the outside layer was pretty badly damaged. He waits for Porky to finish unwrapping the hand so he can see the wound there.]

[Pokey grits his teeth as he gets closer to the last part of the wrapping. The wound has, at the very least, been cleaned, so there isn't much chance of infection, but god if it still doesn't look awful.

He glances back down at the fingers he'd laid down on the table, grimacing. Goddammit, the weird kid was right. He HAD damaged them. Of course. Why should he expect to do anything right himself? That was just stupid.]

...So can you help me?

Date: 2010-10-01 02:13 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
[The wound was still open. Strangely enough, that was a good thing. If it had closed, he would have had to cut it back open which was . . . Decidedly not a good thing. Lucas nods.]

I think so. If I can't reattach them, I can at least close that wound completely. That will be, um. Free since it means I failed, but if you really want to pay, half-price.

It's a pretty clean cut. That's good, too. So . . . Align them as close as you can and then bite on something. I'll have to press it together.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Pokey just sits there for a moment before going and and finding one of the smaller rolling pins. He could barely bite down on it, but if it was going to sting that bad? He wanted something hard to bite down on when it came to it.

And Pokey does what he's asked, arranging them as well as he can, managing to get each one in the right spot before aligning his hand. He isn't sure by this point if he should be happy about this or not.

He'll just give Lucas a nod. Go ahead.]

[It is unfortunate that there is no such thing as PK Anesthetic. Lucas would've given quite a bit to have learned that at some point. And even though this is Porky, he can't help but feel bad about what he will soon be going through.

Lucas nods back in response, leans over, and takes a hold of the first severed digit. Then he presses it into Porky's hand as hard as he can, simultaneously releasing an extremely concentrated burst of PSI.

He doesn't wait. Better to get it all over with at once -- Immediately, he repeats the process with the next two fingers, then grabs ahold of Porky's hand and releases a soft wave of Lifeup to infuse into Porky's body slowly.]

. . . How is it?

((Degree of success is up to you.))

Date: 2010-10-01 02:30 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Oh, you better believe Pokey is biting down the moment the digits touch and the burst of PSI goes through. It's taking a lot to keep his body just to shaking instead of utterly convulsing.

By the time it's all over, he's fighting back tears, and he just lets the rolling pin drop to the floor before bringing his hand up. His voice is weak, teeth gritted to give it a hissing sound.]

Stiff....

[He wiggles his fingers very slowly though. ...They don't seem to have the full range of movement they'd have, but at least their moving.]

But it's something...

[He smiles and nods in encouragement. . . . Oh wait mask.]

That's good. I . . . I think that's normal. The nerves will probably be dead for a little while -- But since you can move them, it means that they weren't completely damaged by the ice.

It's going to hurt some more, but keep moving them.

[His voice is a snarl, but at least it's a soft one.]

Yeah, I can tell.

[And he'll use his left hand to fish around in his pocket and pull out fifteen dollars and place it on the table.]

...Thanks.

[It's like being paid to feed starving children or help old ladies cross the street or something. Lucas pockets the money with not a small deal of reluctance. He considered running off and leaving the money there, but ultimately decided against it as he doesn't think it would improve Porky's opinion of him any.]

You're welcome.

[He pauses. Oh. Hey. It's awkward again.]

Do you mind saying which one it was?

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[There. Good. You aren't a saint. You would take it, even if you seem hesitant. But even that makes him feel bad, like he did something wrong by offering it to you in the first place. And that pisses him off, though he'll try and hide it for now.

After all, you did just help him in a way worth more then what you were asking.]

....The mom. She bumped into me, and called me rude for standing there, so I insulted her. Then she told me to wash my hands. And that's when I saw my fingers had been cut off. Great story, I know.

[Lucas has never claimed to be a saint. All the same, Porky shouldn't be surprised if he finds a package arriving at his mailbox sometime within the next week filled with exactly fifteen dollars worth of the best candy sold in Mayfield.]

Really? Jane did that . . . ?

. . . I had her down as the nice drone we should be sympathetic to in my head. I guess that was dumb.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
[Goddammit, Lucas, you are way to kind for your own good.

Either way, Pokey just taps his newly regained fingers on the table.]

How do we know they even control their own actions. You're a PSI user, right? Can you feel any other psychics, or even have the power to?

Date: 2010-10-01 03:25 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
That's true. I guess what I mean is that I forgot she was a drone at all and started thinking of her as the trapped Samantha. Something like that . . .

No, that's not something I can do. Telepathy and that kind of thing is a different type of psychic power.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
...Trapped Samantha? What's that supposed to be?

Yeah, I figured. Thought it was worth asking.

From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
You know, that n --

[Lucas suddenly pauses and thinks back. Porky hadn't been here when Westport was happening. . . . Somehow, it seems as if Porky has always been in his life.]

Jane Smith is actually a girl called Samantha Achewood. We found some evidence . . . somewhere about that. They could be fake, but she's almost snapped back to herself once or twice.

Date: 2010-10-01 03:40 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
...I heard about a girl who they were worshiping as a god from a fri-from a girl I know here that I saw at the party. Or that they found evidence of that. Was that "Jane", or the littler girl? And by snapped back...you mean become self aware, or what?

Date: 2010-10-01 03:43 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
[He heard that, Porky.]

Yes. People think that's Lucy, the little girl. . . . Actually, I didn't see her at the party. I'm not sure exactly. All I know is that talking about that sort of thing made her almost cry once.

Date: 2010-10-01 03:50 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
Huh.

[He just taps his fingers for a moment, unsure what to say.]

...Useless. There's a lot of information, but nothing to really build on. At least not yet, from what I've been able to gather.

From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
It's like a really awful mystery game. Once we figure it out, we can escape.

That's why so many people went to the party yesterday, of course. . . . But I think most everyone just ended up getting themselves hurt.

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
Escape. Yeah, that'd be great to finally get out of here. I've only been here two months, and I'm tired with it.

That's the thing about a game. If you don't play, you can't get anything. You have to take a chance.

I think the odds of winning this round were pretty low. We both lost pretty badly.

[He had been entertaining dreams of befriending Billy and getting him to realize the errors of his ways. It was the sort of thing he thought about. . . . Lucas suddenly gasps a little, as he realizes he'd had those dreams about someone else, too.]

From: [identity profile] godisachild.livejournal.com
Psh. Friggin' tell me about it. And of course, I have to put up with them since they-

[He notices the little gasp, Lucas, and just stares at you, raising an eyebrow.]

...What?

Date: 2010-10-01 04:18 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] a-gentle-boy.livejournal.com
N-Nothing. I just . . . had a thought. About something Billy said.

[The parallel between the Porky he knew from the future and Billy was pretty striking, actually.]
